Dylanology #7: Let's Keep It Between Us, Shadows in the Dark, and Mr T-Man

Did you ever wonder what makes Let’s Keep It Between Us so special? If not, you’re forgiven, since it’s not one of Dylan’s best known songs. It is, however, a great song, with some quite intricate harmonic things going on, which is worth exploring. That’s what I do in the seventh issue of Dylanology.
I also reflect upon the first of Dylan’s Sinatra albums, Shadows in the Night, and Jakob Brønnum continues his search for an Ars Poetica in Mr Tambourine Man.

Dylanology #6: Springtime in New York and the timely sound of Duquesne Whistle

One of my ongoing projects is to figure out what Dylan’s musical style actually is. I call it “prose music” and it consists of the use of musical sounds as if they were spoken language. The sixth issue of Dylanology contains one more piece in the puzzle, in the form of a detailed analysis of one verse of singing in Foot of Pride. In the same issue, Jakob Brønnum compares Duquesne Whistle to the video that was made of it.

Springtime in New York

Most of the songs from the new volum in the Bootleg Series, Springtime in New York had already been tabbed, but there are some new songs on there. First out is This Night Won’t Last Forever, because I’m doing them more or less in the order in which they appear, and because I like the song. Very seventies pop, with reminiscences of Billy Joel as well as Old Rock ‘n’ Roller.

Next up is Baby What You Want Me To Do
