On the viewing tabs, how about some wireframe diagrams, maybe using some open source software, like Basamiq, or something along those lines? http://balsamiq.com/

I assume that you mean during the development stage, and not as something for regular users to see? It may certainly be a nice tool, but I don’t know enough about it to be able to set i up.
